Carbon Fiber Sea wall repair, Camano Island, Washington.

The hardworking crews at R&R Foundation Specialist have been busy this summer with wall strengthening projects across Washington State.

We wanted to share this sea wall project on Camano Island that had extensive cracking from decades of salt water exposure and winter storms that frequently impact these walls with logs and other debris.

This wall was repaired using a combination of unidirectional and bidirectional carbon fiber to provide confinement strength of over 35,000lbs per sq/ft to all cracked areas. Since this repair will spend half its life underwater it will be coated in a high performance Kevlar / epoxy coating that will create a uniform finish over the entire while protecting the carbon fiber from UV rays.
